12/13/07-USA vs. Japan World Championship

Over the past couple of weeks in preparing for this event, there have been many sightings of the Japanese TV film crew following AICE eaters. Although AICE was not at liberty to disclose the details of the contest at that time, we are now proud to announce

The first ever Team Japan vs. Team USA Eating Championship! This groundbreaking event will feature Japan’s best eaters against a team of top American eaters. This event is being filmed throughout the month of December and will conclude with a live eating competition between the Great Japanese eating legend “The Giant” Shirota and Gentleman Joe Menchetti in Tokyo, Japan.

According to AICE Chairman Arnie ChowHound Chapman this event represents the ultimate competition for many of our Food Warriors. The American Food Warrior has always held the Japanese Food Warrior in high esteem and is truly honored to have the opportunity to go against the World’s Best.

While the typical structure of these competitions may differ from AICE competitions, the Japanese tradition of longer contests and would tend to favor the Japanese eater, nobody should count out the courage and enthusiasm that Team USA will bring to the table. In developing this historic event, AICE discovered that the Japanese also strongly appreciate the entertainment value of a championship eating contest.

AICE will attempt to provide updates over the next week regarding these great battles.

12/13/07- Each member of Team USA had a Japanese TV film crew video them in prepartion for this event -See article and video clip from MyReocrdJournal.com written by Dan Champagne, Record-Journal staff- 12/10/2007. 'Gentleman Joe' looks the part -- until he sits down to eat.

12/13/07- Hickman and Miyake the next couple of Competitive Eating....

It was predicted here on CompettiveEaters.com that Ian "The Invader" Hickman would meet his future spouse through Competitive Eating when he was featured in a Astro-Eater segment. There have been unconfirmed rumors that "The Invader" and Tomoko Miyake will be featured in an Eating Contest in Japan. If this is true, don't be surprised if sparks fly during and after their heated battle.
AICE would like to hear feed back from anybody who may have caught wind of this potential match-up between these two heartthrobs of Competitive Eating. Also, we would like people to tell us if they believe Hickman and the lovely Miyake would be a good couple.

12/11/07- She's at it again!

Elizabeth 'Rubber Gut' Canady is the first and only Food Warrior to conquer the mighty Black Rock Burger {5 pounds of USDA grade beef post cooking, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onion, Pickles, 10 slices of cheese, & ketchup on a super sized bun!} weighing in at close to 9 pounds. Rubber Gut wasted no time devouring this monster in just under 30 minutes and leaving the Black Rock management stunned. We here at AICE have been watching this incredible talent making history and look forward to future conquests!

As long as Rubber Gut continues her search for food challenges, there is no food safe from her incredible eating abilities.

12/10/07-Gentleman Joe Menchetti captures 3rd Annual Zan's National Potato Latke Eating Championship

Gentleman Joe Menchetti got out to an early lead  and never looked back while capturing the National Potato Latke Eating championship at Zan's Kosher Deli in Lake Grove New York.  Although it seemed that Menchetti would challenge the World Standard of 31 set by Goose Gilbert in 2006,  Menchetti  downshifted in the final two minutes to finish with a stellar 27 Potato Latkes.  In second place was Elizabeth "Rubber Gut" Canady who finished with 25 latkes and seemed to have maintained an exact pace through out the entire 8 minute contest.  In third place was Chris "The American" Schlesinger with 21 Latkes  who finally  finished in the money by taking third place in his third consecutive year of participation at this event.  Nipping on Schlesinger's heels was Lew "The Chew" Porchiazzio with 20.5 and Mike "The Real Skinny" Hoffman with 20. Last years amateur Champion and record holder Maxwell "Max-Deamon" Dohrety almost captured the sixth spot and was penalized for "Chipmunking" which dropped him to an seventh place finish.  The sixth spot was taken by Chris "Infinity" Yee who tied with Joel "The Cannon" Podelsky (16).  The eighth and ninth spots were taken by "Sweet" Jill Stoler  (15) and Mike "Kid-Graz" Graziano  (14.5)

12/10/07 AICE rankings have been updated. Drop down box under Food Warriors

12/9/07- Congratulations to Elizabeth 'Rubber Gut' Canady.

She completed the J&R Steak Challenge (Stonybrook) in 26 minutes. "Queen Gutress" also finished 3 sides and may have actually been well under 23 minutes for the 76 ounce steak alone. Apparently when '98 pound Food Warrior' requested the challenge, she was told by the staff at J&R 'not to attempt the challenge because there was no way that she would be able to succeed." Not only did she succeed, but she decisively beat the female record.

12/8/07-Chowhound Captures NYC Falafel Eating Championship, improves World Peace while discovering new talent

Arnie "Chowhound" Chapman captured the first ever NYC Falafel Eating Contest by downing 8 Falafel balls on a plate of Hummus in 78 seconds. In doing so, Chapman may have advanced the cause of World Peace by adding a Mid-Eastern eating title to his resume which includes success in Kosher, Far Eastern and American Food Items. Whether or not Chapman's diplomatic services will be called upon by the World's Super Powers is yet to be seen, However, AICE still believes that the true power of competitive may be it's ability to resolve World problems. Matt "Hurricane" Haines finished one bite behind Chapman and proved that he has the ability to join the AICE diplomatic corps and become a "Statesman of the Stomach." In a gesture of reconciliation, (hopefully to be replicated all across the World) Chapman transferred his first place prize of Falafel's for a year to Haines who is a student at the New School and plans to take full advantage of his right to purchase 8 cent falafel's over the next year.

12/2/07-Hickman and Miyake the next couple of Competitive Eating....

Also, we would like people to tell us if they believe Hickman and the lovely Tomoko Miyake would be a good couple.

11/30/07-Arnie 'ChowHound' Chapman -Long Island's own "Champion of Chomp" awed the crowd at Zan's Deli by devouring 8 delicious 3oz potato latkes in only 51 seconds! Arnie's appearance this past Thursday evening was to promote the National Potato Latke Eating Championship at Zan's Deli in Lake Grove, NY. Other food warriors need not worry, the Hound's role at that event will be as Master of Ceremonies despite the temptation to become the first ever LI Competitive Eater to win the prestigious title.

Apparently there have been citings in such places as Oceanside, NY; Cuyahoga, OH; and Sterling, VA of a Japanese gentleman with camera shadowing competitive eaters. AICE Chairman Arnie 'ChowHound' Chapman was recently asked about the rumors regarding a clash between American's best eaters (AICE eaters) and a contingent of highly acclaimed Japanese eaters. Chapman response was, "This is how rumors get started. I have no additional comments". He was later seen walking away with a Japanese/English dictionary tucked under his arm.

11/28/07-It's on baby! Clinton Station Diner, Operation Shoe Box and AICE will Team up to conquer the World's Largest Menu Hamburger on Feb 2nd, 2008. Twenty-four Food Warriors from the tri-state area (and perhaps beyond) will attempt to eat the new World's Largest Menu Hamburger. Registration and more details to follow. Any and all ranked Eaters who are interested in making history will get automatc spots on the Team.

If you wish to be part of the monumental event as an Eater but don't have competitive eating experience you must tell us why you deserve to be on the team.

/07-On-LOnine We are still inputting information into the AICE data base and appreciate everbodys patience. Also, we would like to add any independent contests and acco

11/17/07-Hickman wins Pancake Eating Contest at Pete's Grill in Baltimore

Apparently Ian "The Invader" Hickman put on an Eating clinic at Pete's Grill in Baltimore. In doing so, Ian estblished a new standard of 20 Pancakes, besting the previous record of 18 pancakes. Check out story and video clip.

11/10/07-Chris Yee to enter National Potato Latke Eating Championship

OK America, you have been real busy paying attention to the usual fantastic, terrific Eaters (For which there are many) that you have forgotten about some of the new talent that has recently emerged on the scene. Chris Yee, in only his first attempt at competitive eating took 2nd place at the prestigious Annual Dragon Boat Festival Dumpling Eating contest in Queens New York. In addition he also beat a highly regarded nationally ranked Eater in the process. We guarantee, you will know about this young superstar come Dec 9th, 2007.

11/9/07- Happy Veteran's Day: We honor your sacrifice

AICE would like to say a heart felt Thank You to all our Vets who have served in the Armed Forces. Also we would like to pay special tribute to AICE veterans and current active duty/reserve members: Goose Gilbert-Current US Army reserve,Carey "PowerHouse" Poehlmann-US Navy, Arnie "ChowHound" Chapman US Army, Angel "Trogdilyte" Chiriboga-US Army, Alex "The Texas Tornado" Thomas-Current US Army reserve, Eddie "The Geek" Vidmar (Ret.) US Army.

If we missed acknowledging any veteran's please let us know.

11/9/07-"Big-Rig" Rides "Hunger-Highway" in his quest to gain the 3rd Annual Potato Latke Eating Championship on December 9th 2007

18th Ranked Picnic Style Eater in the Nation Rich "Big-Rig" Brooking has just registered for the 3rd Annual National Potato Latke Eating Championship. According to AICE Chairman Arnie "Chowhound" Chapman, "We are ecstatic to have this young man compete for the title. Rich brings great fun and mass consumption to any table he invades. Also adds Chapman, "His entry will further "stir the pot" and possibly bring more changes to the national rankings."

11/9/07-2nd Annual Mid-West Chili Eating Championship

AICE and the North Canton Ohio Rotary Club are teaming up again for the return of the Mid-West Chili Eating Championship on Feb. 16, 2008. Expected this year is returning champ Mark Lyle-"The Human Vacuum" who established the World Record by consuming an amazing 8.3 pounds of Chili in only 5 minutes.

On-Line Registration

11/8/07-Chowhound to make appearance at Zan's Deli on Thursday, November 29th, 2007

Chowhound Chapman will make a guest appearance at Zan's Deli during the Solomon Schecter "Family Fun Day" on November 29th, 2007. Chowhound, who is Long Island's "Champion of Chomp" will be the guest emcee where he will conduct some fun activities and contests for kids. Also, the Hound will do an Eating exhibition to promote the upcoming National Potato Latke Eating Championship on December 9th, 2007. Chowhound will be timed eating 10 potato Latke's and talk about some of the great picnic style Food Warriors who will compete in December.

11/8/07- The "Colossus II Climbing Team" On-line Registration

11/8/07-Pittsburgh Mash Potato Mash Down?

AICE recently received a strange e-mail from a person identifying themselves as the Potato Prince. He asked us to share the following:

"There are rumors abound about potatoes mashed, not hard and round....There are rumors abound that a PA champion will be crowned....Yes my friends, there Rumors abound that are whispered around town....Rumors abound, about the crowning of a World Mashed Potato Champion...ha, ha, ha.…" We don't know what to make of this correspondence but would urge the public to say something if they see something....

11/4/07-Correction:

AICE incorrectly listed Gentleman Joe Menchetti as a participant in the upcoming National Potato Latke Eating Championship. AICE received an e-mail from Menchetti who advised us that he never committed to the event. However, Joe stated that he would have liked the opportunity to defend his number one ranking but prior work commitments make it unlikely. OK, No Menchetti, Hickmnan and possibly no "Goose"..? It looks like the 3rd Annual Potato Latke Eating Contest could represent a real opportunity for a top 25 guy or gal to win the crown this year.

11/3/07-Major ranking implications at 3rd Annual Latke Eating Championship

AICE has just received registration from Carey "Powerhouse" Poehlmann to participate in the National Latke Eating Championship in Lake Grove NY. Also, it is uncertain whether Goose Gilbert will return to defend his title. Should Goose make it to the contest he will face off against Gentlemen Joe Menchetti who is the World's #1 ranked Picnic Style Eater and beat Menchetti, it is likely that he will gain the #1 spot. The particpation of "Rubber Gut" Canady offers an interesting opportunity for her to sustain her current 11th Ranking (or perhaps move up several notches) if she can stay close to Gilbert or Menchetti. However, if Canady loses to any of the Food Warriors, she will likely fall in the rankings. Some of the Gut Gladiators that will be shooting for "Queen Guttress" are Chris "The American" Schlesinger (ranked 17th) Carey "Powerhouse" Poehlmann (Ranked 21st) or Mike "The Real Skinny" Hoffman (Ranked 19th) or Joel "The Cannon" Podelesky (Ranked 28th). Of course, all of these Food Warriors will also be looking to bring their L-Game because of the opportunity that this event presents to advance in the rankings.

11/3/07- AICE'S Top 10 list starts to form....

All Eaters, Fans and members of the Competitive Eating Community please start thinking about Top 10 AICE Memorable Moments of 2007. You may wish to consider some of the following criteria when sending AICE your thoughts; Amount Eaten/World Record performances, Crowd response, uniqueness of a food item, AICE publicity from the event or if a contest was a great battle. You may wish to also use any other criteria you chose. In any case, we would like to hear from folks regarding some of their choices. Some choices you may wish to consider are:

The amazing tag team performance from Elizabeth "Rubber Gut" Canady and Gentleman Joe Menchetti when they soundly defeated Eating legend "The Giant" Shirota and Tomoke Miyake a highly regarded female Japanese Eater.

Goose Gilbert pounding down 9lbs of strawberries in 7 minutes leaving much of the crowd & other Eaters dumbfounded with amazement. "The Goose" established a new standard and broke the previous record by nearly 4 lb..

Professor Mathew Allen researches and practices the best way to eat Frog Legs and beats the 3rd and 6th ranked picnic style eaters in the world at the first ever World Frog Leg Eating Championship. "The Mad City Masticator" and a large contingent of friends wildly celebrated in the rain after this truly remarkable accomplishment. It is rumored that this man of science may have aligned himself with the spirit of the "Frog God" and therefore acquired unfair advantage...investigation continues.

Gentleman Joe "Mon"chetti, in stunning" fashion, continues his dominance in Caribbean Food items by smashing his Beef Patty record and clipping 7 seconds off his Bun & Cheese record. Apparently, the sound of Bob Marley makes Joe hungry.…

Ian "The Invader" Hickman's new picnic style world record in 1/4 LB Hot Dogs where he consumed a bite under 15 monster 1/4 LB Hot Dogs in 10 minutes. This contest had all the necessary elements for a top 10 moment; Great crowd, "Beer Girls" and several top Eaters going bite for bite during the battle.

Mark Lyle "The Human Vacuum "sucks up" 8.3 lb. of Chili to claim the new World Record and Eating Championship in Canton Ohio. Mark, a native Ohioan could not have found a better place to smash the old record by more than a pound. However, Mark had some incentive as two other Eaters bit at his heels for the entire contest, finishing just under 8lbs each. The Canton Ohio crowd, intense level of competition and New World Record make this event a great one and worth considering for the top 10.

Top Ten Memorable Moments from 2006

10/31/07- Team Colloussu II is growing: Eaters getting psyched up!

Much like the Colossus II Burger , which just keeps growing to a mega-monster level, the team which has recently been named the "History Makers " Eating Team has spurned a great deal of interest from Champion Food Warriors. The latest contact has been from "Mr. Cleveland" also known as "Tiny-Tim" Raucheder" who has promised to give his portion of the burger a major beating and salivates when thinking about the delicious destruction he will employ.

Also Tim 'Obi Wing Kenobi" Cain will also be traveling from Western Pa and predicts that he will wrap his cast iron Pittsburgh Steelers Stomach around his beefy portion of the Colossus ll

GJoe appears on CBS

10/31/07

Gentleman Joe Menchetti, The World's #1 Picnic Style Food Warrior made a brief appearance on The CBS Sunday Morning Show with Charles Osgood this past Sunday, October 28th, 2007. Charles Osgood was visiting the Rhode Island pumpkin patch where Menchetti, who is the World Record Holder for Pumpkin Pie, recently did a Pumpkin Pie Eating Exhibition.

10/29/07-New Eaters to highlight Third Annual Potato Latke Eating Championship

"Queen Guttress", also known as "Elizabeth Rubber Gut Canady" has contacted AICE that she will conquer Long Island on December 9th, 2007 as she attempts to win the Third Annual National Potato Latke Eating Championship at Zan's Kosher Deli in Lake Grove New York . Also expected, is the World's #1 Picnic Style Eater, the Great "Gentleman" Joe Menchetti from Walingford, CT. The defending Champ and World Record Holder, Tom "Goose" Gilbert, has indicated that he would like to defend his title. However, due to the Goose's Army Reserve commitments and busy work schedule he might not be able to make it.

With the potential absence of Gilbert and previous Latke Eating Champion Ian "The Invader" Hickman from the table, Chris "The American" Schlesinger and Mike "The Real Skinny" Hoffman could finish in the money in 2007. Last Year's Amateur winner Maxwell "Max-Demon" Doughrety has been M.I.A. from the competitive eating scene since last years stunning performance, would also be someone to watch if he does enter on December 9th, 2007. Also, "Sweet Jill" Stoler (who may have competitive eating's sweetest smile) has confirmed that she will also step-up to the table. "Sweet Jill" has a NJ Canoli Eating title along with a 4th place finish at the Chinese Dumpling Contest among a group of top female Food Warriors this past August. It is possible that Stoler could receive a national ranking from AICE if she performs well in December. Joel "The Cannon" Podelsky who typically has gotten out to an early lead, plans to bring the "Boom" this year to Lake Grove and sustain his early lead, in his bid to become the first Jewish Latke Eating Champion. Also, "The Cannon" will be bringing a great deal of emotion with him as he dedicates this years effort to his long time friend Paul Enden who recently passed away. As usual, The Velvet Voice of Competitive Eating Mike "Sisco-Kid" will be playing music and providing bite by bite analysis with AICE Chairman and World Pickle Eating Champion, Arnie "Chowhound" Chapman.

10/27/07-So, you cant find an eating competition but you're hungry as hell and need a good challenge before your next competition? Don't get discouraged because there may be a 72 oz steak, 7lb hamburger or oversized Pizza with your name on it. There are a few places that will not only excuse your bill and hoist your name or picture on their hall of fame wall (or similar locale) but also offer a bounty.

Please, if anybody knows of a restaurant, offering a food challenge that is not listed below please e-mail AICE with the details or link. We will make sure its posted. Also, we encourage anybody considering a visit to one of these places confirm with the particular eating establishment that the offer is still valid. We would love any short stories about your adventure at these locations or any eating event. If anyone is interested in the link for any of these locations please e-mail ChowHound.

Updates have been made to the Eating Challenge page or click on In The News, go to drop down box CHALLENGES.

10/27/07- Colossus II Update:

The "Colossus II Climbing Team" is starting to form. AICE has heard from several top ranked eaters who have expressed enthusiasm regarding this event. Ian "The Invader", Tiny Tim, Elliot 'The Savage" and Chris 'The American" as some of the eaters who have responded one day after the announcement. Owner Mike Zambus and AICE will soon be setting a date for this spectacular event. Amateur contestants seeking entry should explain why they deserve to be part of the team.

10/27/07 AICE has recently heard from Joel 'The Cannon' that his good friend and competitive eating supporter Paul Enden passed away. Our deepest sympathies go out to Paul's family and friends.

10/25/07-Clinton Station Diner is at it again!!-Attempt on World's Largest Burger soon to be scheduled!

NEEDED: 24 Professional and/or or accomplished Food Warriors along with amateur Eaters to embark upon the attempt to Eat the new "Eighth Wonder" also known as the Clinton Colossus II (to be renamed by Clinton Station Diner patrons and will be over 123 pounds to break the current World Record) which will be unvield on a date and TTBDA. Anybody wanting to be part of this historic event should contact Chowhound. Given the potential dimensions of this Hamburger being unvieled, Each Team must average approximately a little over 5lbs per Eater for this feat to be accomplished.

Mike "Zanny" Zambas from the Clinton Station Diner and AICE Chairman Arnie "Chowhound" Chapman will be announcing date real soon. It is important that you advise Chowhound of the dates you are definately availible ASAP so that we can select a date which would work best for all concern

10/22/07-Ian "The Invader" Hickman gets his "Woopie" on!

Ian "the Invader" Hickman stunned the audience at the 2007 Whoopie Pie Festival in Strasburg Pennsylvania by downing an incredible 60 Whoopie Pies in only three minutes. It is likely that this incredible performance (which was a 25 Woopie Pie Increase from his own record that he established in 2006) will go down as one of 2007's most dominating performances. Also, Sean "Flash" Gordon performed extremely well by eating an extremely respectable 45 pies. "Flash" is an Eater that has recently shown that he is ready to climb the rankings and may very well break into the top 15 in early 2008. In third place, with a good showing was Dave "Megga-Munch" Shoffner who gobbled thirty pies.

*please note: This contest was not an AICE sanctioned or affiliated event. Contest rules allowed Eaters to dunk. AICE is unaware whether or not the Whoopie pie is traditionally dunked when consumed. Despite the AICE's prohibition against dunking, Hickman's performance was still pretty awesome.

To Watch Hickman's awesome display go to: Woopie Pie

10/7/07-Gentleman Joe falls Short of World Record

Make no mistake about it, 5lbs of Pumpkin Pie in five minutes is no easy task. Despite this, GJoe was disappointed that he fell short yesterday at the Ron Wallace Farm in Rhode Island. Also, Menchetti did not have a slew of top rank eaters biting on his heels like he did when he set the record in Canada in November of 2005. The World Record for largest pumpkin also was not realized. However Mr. Wallace still weighed in with the champion pumpkin at 1,400 lb.

10/7/07-AICE rankings have been updated

10/6/07-Gentleman Joe will attempt to break Pumpkin Pie record in Rhode Island on October 6th, 2007

Gentleman Joe Menchetti will attempt to break his World Record in Pumpkin Pie at the Ron Walace Farm during the SNGPG Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off Day on Saturday October 6th, 2007. As you may remember, Gentleman Joe Menchetti did an unbelievable 5.89 lbs in Canada nearly two years ago. Joe is predicting 7lbs and requested that they provide no less than 10lbs to support his October 6th attempt.

10/5/07-Ian "The Invader" Hickman According to the Stars:
Sun Sign: Aries (awesome sign for sports and competition)
Rising Sign: Pisces (Good sign for Entertainer)
Lunar/Mon Sign: Libra

When the crack team of Astrologers from AICE looked at Hickman's planetary eating potential their reaction was a cosmic "wow." Ian's stomach prowess and love for competition and sports were very strong and obvious astro traits. Ian's astrological blue print is full of strong and obvious indicators for Competitive Eating.

A. Personality:

Ian's desire for sports and competition is strongly impacted by his sun sign Aries (Perhaps the most competitive and sports minded sign inn the zodiac). In Hickman’s Astro profile, the planet that rules Aries, Mars is also stationed in Aries which adds even greater intensity and fuels a strong desire for competition and physical expression. Ian's rising sign of Pisces not only explains his easy going exterior, love of fashion, but also hides an intense and competitive spirit and inner Aries nature that is also fueled by some action packed planetary Oppositions. Ian has earned a reputation for great sportsmanship and class among other Eaters. These are the qualities that are brokered when the Aries influence makes its way through the lens of Pisces. Ian's inner fighting spirit is well masked by the cloudy subdued nature of Pisces. However, the Pisces penchant for creativity, acting and showmanship is realized through his iinvolvement in competitive eating while also allowing for an expression and outlet of if his intense Aries nature. “The Invader’s” regular regime of Physical fitness is another constructive channel that Hickman utilizes to let out his intense Aries Energy. Even if Hickman hangs up the spoon one day, his involvement in sports & competition is likely to be a life time pursuit.

B. Physical Assets

In terms of physical assets Ian showed had many outstanding indicators of having a “Champion Stomach.” Ian's 4th House (The house that governs the stomach) is empty which means that his stomach is not obstructed and/or disrupted by other planetary influences. With the cusp of his 4th House making an exact square to Pluto there is a strong dimension of power especially as it relates to “Things Hidden” such as the consumption of food.

Other notes: Its likely Ian will meet his next spouse and/or girlfriend through his competitive eating experiences.

Next Food Warrior to come under the AICE astroscope will be “Tiny Tim” Rauschetter.

10/2/07-Area PRO Athletes have lunch with the INVADER for charity:

Don Corleone's held the first-ever PROs VS. Joes Pizza Challenge Sunday where Professional boxer/WBC title holder Jimmy Lange, Washington Redskins' Kedric Golston and Ian "the INVADER" Hickman won by eating 54 slices of Familigia (19') pizza in 10 minutes. The two other 6-person 'Joe' teams weren't intimidated by the PROs with second (53) and third (48) place right behind. The PROs VS Joes challenge helped raise money for East Africa Missions from a portion of ticket sales sold to compete for over $1,000 in prizes and pizza. After being the the first to finish a 16 slice Familigia pizza, Hickman says he didn't want to out-do his teammates so he was giving tips to bring their totals up. "Kedric knew what he was doing but all I could tell Jimmy was to keep dunking the crust to ease the chewing,"the INVADER" said. "He didn't like the sound of wet crust at all which probably best explains his low slice count." Jimmy Lange went on to eat 9 slices, Kedric Golston with 14 and Ian "the INVADER" with 30. Don Corleone's plans to hold the event next year with even more PROs including players from the Washington Capitols and Nationals. Stay Tuned.

10/1/07-ASTROLOGY AND THE EATER! Stay tuned for this new and exciting exploration of the Competitive Eater by the Association of Independent Competitive Eaters!!

How can that guy/gal eat so much is often the prevailing thought at any Competitive Eating Event. There are theories abound attempting to explain competitive eating ability (some good, some bad). AICE Chairman Arnie “Chowhound” Chapman will be writing “short-takes” on why some Eaters are destined by their horoscope to be amazing Eaters. Also, Chapman will, at times explain an Eaters challenges in certain foods based on an Eaters planetary alignment. AICE urges all Eaters who wish to have thier planets "exposed" and explained to write Chowhound and give him your info (Birth date, exact time of birth, birth place)

We have heard many truths and myths about Competitive Eating, now stay tuned for the Universal truth!!!

10/1/07-Open letter from AICE Chairman Arnie "Chowhound" Chapman

Firstly, I would like to thank the many Food Warriors who have made AICE the fantastic organization that it is. Not only have AICE Eaters shown America their incredible eating ability, but have also have done it with class, creativity and enthusiasm. When I talk about AICE Eaters to friends, sponsors or the media I do so with pride and enjoyment.

AICE Eaters have consistently demonstrated the ethics and conduct that is consistent with our values. This professionalism has not only been extended to each other, but also to our sponsors and the media which are continued success heavily depends on. As the Chairman of the Association of Independent Competitive Eaters, it is my responsibility to protect the opportunities for Independent Eaters and to always promote the goals of our sponsors (our lifeline). Although AICE Food Warriors may, on occasion, engage in friendly "trash talk" for entertainment purpose, we will always embrace the principles of good sportsmanship and conduct ourselves as professional entertainers. On the few occasions that an Eater has violated our code of ethics, AICE Eaters and Management have always dealt with these minor incidents by adapting an attitude of tolerance and choosing the route of personal-communication wihen addressing the issues at hand. This approach has always been successful with an Eater achieving an understanding and a renewed commitment to provide the best entertainment and service to our clients/sponsors.

In final, I am truly honored to know the many fine Food Warriors, benevolent sponsors and Competitive Eating fans who have supported AICE since we began in 2004. Also, I look forward to many more fun and enjoyable events. I urge all Independent Eaters to stay hungry and continue to enjoy this fantastic and delicious journey called Competitive Eating.

Sincerely,

Arnie "Chowhound' Chapman

9/28/07-The Invader teams up with Washington Redskin Football Play Kedric Golston and WBC Boxing Champ Jimmy Lange in home town of Sterling, VA to raise money for charity on 9/30/2007.

Ian "The Invader" Hickman will be competing with Golston and Lange in a pizza eating contest and not against them in boxing or football. Hickman will team up with these two VIP's to take on two other teams of eaters in a chowdown called "Pros vs. Joes." When Ian's well known team mates witness the incredible amounts Hickman devours they will realize the toughness associated with being a good eater and may want to hire him as a strength and conditioning coach. In 2005 "The Invader" and a group of pro eaters taught that lesson to a group of semipro Football players in Indiana.

9/11/07-NEW AND EXCITING FROM AICE

**AICE DATA BASE JUST LAUNCHED**

An AICE EATER STATS and EVENTS STATS data base has just been added as drop downs under the FOOD WARRIORS TAB on our website Please note that we are still adding information which is a slightly time consuming effort. We ask that all eaters assist us in this regard and review and forward any additional information so we can speed up the process of fully updating data base. Currently, the data base will only include AICE sanctioned or affiliated events over the past two years with previous years added on when that is completed. However, AICE will consider adding other contests or non-AICE events after the AICE data has been fully entered.

**AICE returns to traditional ranking system-will also begin construction for Eaters Hall of Fame Page**

Back by popular demand is the AICE ranking system. Many eaters have called AICE Management and expressed their desire to have the traditional ranking system reinstituted in place of the four star system that is currently in effect. Also, Eaters have called for liberal criteria, thus allowing an Eater to be eligible based on having done at least one event in the past 18 months. Both a Food Warriors recent and past accomplishments will constitute the criteria for eligibility. Eaters’s who have retired and have distinguished themselves as “Food Warriors of note” will be given consideration for the Competitive Eaters Hall of Fame.

9/11/07-THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE SUPPORTED AICE. WE MADE THE 85,000 HIT MARK
It must be said however, that the best moments were those spent with ALL the wonderful people who made these events possible. It is this type of contribution from Fans, Friends, Eaters and Supporters that allowed us to live up to our organizational motto: “AICE, an Eaters Organization with a heart as big as it’s stomach.” It is this fellowship and the desire to “never grow up” that fuels the AICE engine. AICE will continue to work hard to develop events and assist charities and other non-profit organizations in their fund raising efforts while also trying to develop events, which will occupy the landscape of competitive Eating and promote Competitive Eating as a viable marketing tool. Also, we seek to continue our work of restoring integrity and trust among the Eaters and the business community.

AICE gives one word of advice to the Competitive Eating Community: Whatever you do, “IT'S GOTTA BE FUN!”

9/9/07-The INVADER is one Haute Dawg!!!

After taking second place in the Backyard Burger Championship Saturday, Ian "the INVADER" Hickman still had room for more. Not burgers but Haute Dawgs. Straight from the Dulles Airport in Virginia, Hickman drove to M'Dawg Haute Dawgs to take first place eating 42 "Coney-like" naked (no bun) hot dogs in 10 minutes. While eating his Taco Bell lunch during a layover in Detroit, Ian received a phone call about the contest being held at M'Dawg Haute Dawgs in Adam's Morgan. Luckily, the owners postponed the 4PM contest allowing the INVADER time to make the competition. Ian won an LCD flat screen/pannel television for his first place finish. The remaining 6 competitors won $20 Kobe beef dog vouchers. Second place came in with 18 hot dogs and third with 12.

9/8/07-Gentleman Joe crowned Back Yard Burger Eating Champ!!

Gentleman Joe Menchetti captured the National Backyard Burger Hamburger Eating Championship by downing an incredible 7-1/3 lb Monster Hamburgers in a mere 3:58 seconds. This accomplishment represents a streak of unbelievable summer performances by the “Gentleman”. According to Chairman “Chowhound” Chapman, this victory clearly positions Menchetti as the favorite in any poll that seeks to identify America’s #1 Eater.

In second place was Ian “The Invader” Hickman who also wowed the audience with an excellent performance by consuming seven Hamburgers in only 4:58. Just behind the young super star Hickman, was eating legend Dale “The Mouth of the South” Boone who powered his way through seven huge burgers in only 5:12 seconds. Fourth place went to the18 year old Charlotte North Carolina native Rich “Big-Rig” Brookings who has been dubbed by Chapman as “The worlds best 18 year old”. This young Food Warrior gobbled 7 Burgers in 6:58 seconds. Mark “The Human Vacuum” Lyle who has struggled as of late, took the last money- spot by downing 6.6 Hamburgers in 7:00 minutes.

Final Standings
1. Gentleman Joe Menchetti 7 Hamburgers in 3:58 $1,000
2. Ian “The Invader” Hickman 7 Hamburgers in 4:58 $500

9/5/07- THE EAT IS ON.... check out the t-shirt design for the National Back Yard Burger Hamburger Eating Championship

9/5/07- Rubber-Gut Canady sets new burger standard for two minute-Is Elizabeth "Rubber-gut" Canady the best female eater in America?

In only her second attempt at speed eating Elizabeth "Rubber Gut" Canady broke the two minute minute record for the consumption of hamburger appetizers/

Hors D'oeuvres by consuming 13 palm sized hamburgers in only 2 minutes on Saturday, September 2nd, 2007 in Jacksonville Florida. Rubber-Gut went on to the semifinals on Labor Day to take 2nd place among a group of well known "food drinkers" finishing with 38 appetizers in only eight minutes. It has been reported by the Food Drinking Association (also known as MLE) that Ms. Canady was only four Hors D'oeuvres from tying Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas's record of 42 appetizers. The well credentialed South Korean National is regarded as the best female food drinker in the world by most. Juliet Lee, who was regarded as America's best female Food Drinker was reported to have announced her retirement after the thrashing she took from Rubber Gut. Many folks in the competitive eating community have already crowned this sensational eater "Queen Gutress."

9/2/07-ChowHound's predictions for the Backyard Burger National Hamburger Eating Championship

Food Warriors for the National Back Yard Burger Hamburger Eating Championship are salivating at the mouth and driving their families crazy as they try and control their excitement and anticipation regarding next Saturdays highly anticipated event. These predictions are guaranteed to also create additional intensity as the noble Food Warriors prepare for this historical event.

1. Ian "The Invader" Hickman 7 Burgers in 6:10
Home town pride, experience, preparation and desire will all come together for this amazing 24 year old who spent a good deal of his childhood in Chattanooga and will be bringing his A+ game to Memphis.

2. Gentleman "The Giant Killer" Menchetti 7 Burgers in 6:14
also known as "Gentleman Joe"
Fresh off a "slamming" victory against Japanese eating legend "Shirota" (the only American to have defeated him) Gentleman Joe will make a major tactical error by pausing one time too many to check where his competitors are and lose the race at the wire. Menchetti will remember this loss with much regret and change his tactics in future bouts against "The Invader."

3. Rich "Big-Rig" Brooking 7.00 Burgers in 6:59
Simply the best 18 year old Eater in America with a fantastic sense of humor to match: No further explanation needed.

4. Mark "The Human Vacuum" Lyle 6.75 Burgers in 7 Minutes
Lyle will be the early leader but will fade at the 4 minute mark and not be able to catch the leaders who all gradually pass him in the last two minutes of the contest.

5. Dale "The Mouth of the South" Boone 6.35 Burgers in 7 minutes
Boone who will make a tumultuous entry but will soon be forgotten by the crowd when he falls off the pace early on and learns about "picnic style rules." However, Boone will work hard in the last two minutes to take the last "money spot."

6. Steve "Cue-Ball" Cue 6.25 Burgers in 7 minutes
Cue-Ball showed great strength at the Midwest Qualifier in Tulsa Oklahoma. Unfortunately we will not see Steve at his best due to family distractions (His wife is expecting any day now!).

7. Alex "Texas Tornado" Thomas 5.75 Burgers in 7 minutes
Alex will gives it his all but realizes that he will need a few more competitions before he can hang with the big boys.

8. Brent "Hercules" Hurst 5.40 Burgers in 7 minutes
"Hercules" will be a force to be reckoned with by 2008. Unfortunately, Memphis will not be where he makes his mark.

9/1/07-Bartolini Brothers pursue another great cause

AICE has just heard from Chris Bartolini who is a generous sponsor of AICE and co-owner of Bartolini's Restaurant & Catering. Chris is now training for the Chicago Marathon in his effort to raise money for PAWS which is a Dog rescue and home-finder organization that does fantastic work. His goal is to raise an additional $1,000 (He has already raised $1,000 for PAWS-Chicago and is requesting any assistance you can provide toward his goal of $2,000). Chris and his lovely family were motivated, in part, by the recent adoption of a dog named "Mylee" which he says has been one of the best decisions he and his family ever made.

Let's give what we can to Paws and wish Chris the best in his effort to run 26.2 Miles on October 7th, 2007. (And you thought Competitive Eaters are crazy..) Although the Bartolini brothers would be embarrassed that AICE mentions this, but PAWS is one of the many great charities that they have donated to over the years (sorry guys, couldn't resist).
