2011 was a great year for All Pro Eating – we visited 14 different states throughout the country as we literally went from the East to the West and from the North to the South! We had the amazing opportunity to work with some of the best Competitive Eating Sponsors throughout the nation and made new friends everywhere we went. Below are only a few highlights from an amazing year:
• Jammin Joe LaRue took no prisoners as he visited Madison, WI and took 1st Place at the University Square Food Court National Food Court Eating Championship. It’s been several months since the contest happened but his record breaking performance is still talked about in one of the best college towns in America!
• All Pro Eating Promotions sanctioned the World Bacon Eating Championship in St. Louis, MO. The dogs were barking and the bacon was flying as “Coondog” O’Karma took 1st place at an amazing event Sponsored by Purina. Coondog left that day vowing to return to beat the World Record in 2012!
• Jammin Joe Larue once again made a statement after downing 4 pounds of hard sour pickles at The Carnegie Deli World Pickle Eating Championship held at the fantastic Mirage in Las Vegas. There couldn’t have been a better place to hold this World Championship event and set a new World Record – both The Carnegie Deli and The Mirage proved to be locations that Competitive Eaters will look forward to visiting in the future!
• Dickey’s Barbecue Pit held the Minnesota Pulled Pork Eating Championship where an unknown eater by the name of Eric “Silo” Dahl made his Competitive Eating Contest debut (and won). If you know Competitive Eating, then you know his name by now – enough said! Dickey’s Barbecue Pit also converted a few unnamed All Pro Eating staff people to strongly announce that they had found their new favorite barbecue restaurant. It’s no surprise Dickey’s has over 200 restaurants!
• Jay “The Gormonster” Gorman visited The Preakness and instead of watching the Greatest Horse Race in America he found himself crowned the undisputed champion of The Great Preakness Pony Pig Out after downing 3.18 pounds of food in 4 minutes and 14 seconds. The Gormonster is hoping to defend the title in 2012 and he will most definitely be the odds-on favorite!
• All Pro Eating visited Idaho to sanction The Boise Fry Company World French Fry Eating Championship where “Coondog” O’Karma proved that Idaho French Fries are not only delicious but also fun to eat! The crowd at this event was fantastic and the local competitors showed that Idaho could be home to several unknown Eaters that could dominate in the future!
• The 10th Annual Royal Caribbean Bakery and Caribbean Food Delights Caribbean Eating Championships saw 1st place finishes by Munchin’ Mike Longo and Mike “The Real Skinny” Hoffman. The Sponsors of this event have made an annual commitment to not only great food, great entertainment and 1st class business operations but they have also proven to be a Champion of promoting the sport of Competitive Eating – a big double thumbs up from All Pro Eating!
• A new National Apple Pie Eating record was set by “Gentleman” Joe Menchetti as he beat out the FIERCE competition at The Lower East Side Apple Day National Apple Pie Eating Championship. This contest marked the return of several Food Warriors to All Pro Eating events and created one of the most talented line-ups we saw all year! The day was perfect as The Lower East Side hosted what we believe could become an event with significant National attention.
• Dickey’s Barbecue Pit created The National Pulled Pork Eating Championship and brought in 6 of the Nation’s best pulled pork Eaters to Dallas, TX after they had each won Regional Qualifiers. The National Pulled Pork Eating Championship was held at the original Dickey’s restaurant during the 70th Anniversary celebration and everyone was lucky to see a Competitive Eating battle that was won by Eric “Silo” Dahl.
• The Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence, NY hosted The World Hands-Free Pumpkin Pie Eating Championship where over 20 Competitive Eaters ate as much pumpkin pie slices without using their hands. Eric “Silo” Dahl took his 3rd All Pro Eating win after setting a new World Record. Chris “The Mad Greek” Abatsas, previous record holder, shook his head in disbelief but gave a promise that he would take down Silo in future competitions. We also saw a local competitor, “Big” Dave Werick take 4th place with style and finesse that could provide some future wins!
• All Pro Eating introduced our new logo and website!

Dallas, Texas - Dickey's Barbecue Pit made barbecue famous in Texas and at the 70th Anniversary celebration in Dallas, Texas at the very first Dickey's Barbecue Pit Eric "Silo" Dahl started his nationwide domination of All Pro Eating contests. In an epic 6 minute battle, Eric Dahl tore through the pulled pork sandwiches put before him and after the barbecue sauce settled Silo made not a statement, but an exclamation as he captured the 2011 Dickey's Barbecue Pit National Pulled Pork Eating Championship! Dickey's Barbecue Pit put on an amazing event on October 18th and created a fun filled day for the community and the surrounding area that proved on that single day that Dallas Texas LOVED Dickey's Barbecue Pit! 2nd Place Finisher Randy "Atlas" Santel also left his mark on Dallas not only after the Dickey's Barbecue Pit National Pulled Pork Eating Championship but also after saying goodbye to a city where he completed 2 Food Challenges that now have his name and also after raising funds for Meals on Wheels of Dallas. Dax "The Ginger" Swanson called on the power of Thor, Baldur and Vali as he snatched the 3rd Place prize. Dickey's Barbecue Pit proved to the nation that they are devoted to the barbecue fans throughout the country as they completed their 6 state search for the nation's top Barbecue Food Warrior!
Buffalo, New York - Eric "Silo" Dahl left Buffalo, New York as local pie makers, burrito makers and other restaurants breathed a sigh relief and thanked Delta Airlines for taking away the #1 threat to their food supply! Silo started his weekend by DEMOLISHING the Burrito Bay Double Glutton Burrito Challenge - a 6 pound burrito challenge - in 3 minutes and 25 seconds. It will be very hard for that record to be broken and we'll be keeping an eye on it (Burrito Bay has some of the best burritos we've had in a LONG time - if you are in Buffalo, New York is is highly suggested that you check them out! A special thanks to the AWESOME crew at Burrito Bay on Friday).
On Sunday, Eric "Silo" Dahl stepped onto the stage at The GreatPumpkin Farm World Hands Free Pumpkin Pie Eating Championship in his official debut as the #1 Ranked Collegiate Competitive Eating and the #1 Ranked All Pro Eating Eater and proved that he is more than worthy of both titles! Eric devoured 27 slices of pumpkin pie in 8 minutes (without using his hands) which not only earned him the title of World Hands Free Pumpkin Pie Champion but also established a NEW World Record! Chris "The Mad Greek" Abatsas took down 2nd place with an amazing performance and 25 slices, Jammin' Joe LaRue pummeled the pumpkin pie and cleared 21 slices giving him 3rd place and amateur "Big" Dave Werick proved he is
The Man in Buffalo, New York with a 4th place finish eating 20 slices. The Great Pumpkin Farm was an AMAZING site and is the only place that All Pro Eating Promotions can think could possibly handle The World Hands Free Pumpkin Pie Eating Championship!

Competitive Eating powerhouse, Jammin’ Jo La Rue recently announced his acceptance and involvement with the production titled “Pure Hunger” which will be at the Know Theatre (http://www.knowtheatre.com) in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 7th. The Pure Hunger program consists of five speakers giving theatrical monologues on the subject of hunger and they will each provide unique insights on the impact of hunger in their lives. Jammin’ Joe will speak on his personal journey through life and how hunger affected him. He explores various times in his life when he experiences hunger in different ways – his experiences as an adolescent in a severe financially poor family trying to feed a 5,000 calorie-per-day metabolism, his experiences while fighting drug and alcohol addiction, his experiences as a Competitive Eater and his experiences as an Executive Chef and CEO of a foundation that feeds less fortunate children and elderly. The Pure Hunger production is currently being considered for a television broadcast series. We look forward to the reviews of Joe’s powerful presence on stage and can’t wait to read the reviews. If you’re in the Cincinnati area on November 7th – this is something you will not want to miss!!! (Note – We were going to tell Joe to “Break a Leg” but thought better of it as the pure shadow of his 6’ 8” frame is itself intimidating! In all seriousness, we wish Joe nothing but success with this endeavor and everything else that this Food Warrior is involved with!)
The Dickey’s Barbecue Pit National Pulled Pork Eating Championship (October 18th – Dallas, TX) and The Great Pumpkin Farm World Hands-Free Pumpkin Pie Eating Championship (October 22nd & 23rd – Clarence, NY) will provide plenty of “eating action” as each contest highlights some of America’s top food choices and celebrates our American pride.

As Dickey’s Barbecue Pit and AllPro Eating Promotions developed The Dickey’s Barbecue Pit National Pulled Pork Eating Championship it was clear that this national pork extravaganza was going to be big! 7 regional qualifiers have secured their place to battle for the title of the National Pulled Pork Eating Champion and a share of the $950.00 prize pool at the Dickey’s Barbecue Pit 70th Anniversary Celebration in Dallas, Texas. The following Food Warriors (in addition to one more Texas qualifier) will be flown to the very 1st Dickey’s Barbecue Pit and secure their place in
history on October 18th:

All Pro Eating Promotions’ Director of Operations Dave “Coondog” O’Karma said, “There is so much to do at The Great Pumpkin Farm and so much fun to had by everyone between the ages of 1 and 100 that The Great Pumpkin Farm should probably be referred to as ‘The Greatest Pumpkin Farm’!” The Great Pumpkin Farm World Hands-Free Pumpkin Pie Eating Championship is quickly becoming a battlefield for some of the best Food Warriors to prove their Pumpkin Pie prowess. Chris “The Mad Greek” Abatsas is planning to return to defend both his 2010 World Hands-Free Pumpkin Pie Eating Champion Title and current World Hands-Free Pumpkin Pie Eating Record, Jammin’ Joe LaRue is looking to avenge his loss to The Mad Greek in last year’s contest and claim the 2011 title and also establish a new World Record, Eric “Silo” Dahl who is the Nation’s Top Ranked Collegiate Competitive Eating plans to demolish the World Record and hold the 1st Trophy high above his head and “Gentleman” Joe Menchetti who is fresh off his recent win at the National Apple Pie Eating Championship where he established a new National Apple Pie Eating Record will make his first appearance at the World Hands-Free Pumpkin Pie Eating Championship and is expected to make his presence known!

Todd "The Hungry Genius" Greenwald commented, "These Apple Pie All Stars have come together at the same table to prove not only to each other but also to the great state of New York just who among them has the same determination and resolve that our great American forefathers had when creating the rich history of our nation. The Food Warriors that show up at Apple Day on September 18th and proclaim their national pride at the Apple Day National Apple Pie Eating Championship with the huge quantities of apples that they will consume will far outweigh only one apple in a day and will surely cause some slow days for the local doctors. An apple a day should most certainly keep them away!"
The Lower East Side Business Improvement District anticipates a great turnout to pay tribute to the neighborhood's historical connection to apples. Dave "Coondog" O'Karma, All Pro Eating Promotion Director of Operations stated, "By sponsoring the apple festival in Manhattan, the Lower East Side Business District has created a unique new way for locals and visitors to take a bite out of the Big Apple."

Munchin Mike Longo and Mike "The Real Skinny" Hoffman captured the Caribbean Food Delights/Royal Caribbean Bakery Eating Championships at the Meritone Family Fun Day Festival in Middlebury CT. In the Beef Patty Division, Mike "The Real Skinny" Hoffman who recently captured the World Hard Sour Pickle Eating title in May has shown great strength over the past several months with very strong performances. Although the field started very quickly, Hoffman stayed strong and consistent (Yes, his face was red as always) and toped the next finisher by more than one large Beef Patty. 2nd and 3rd place was a great battle between Chris "The American" Schlesinger and Liam "Lamb chops" Burt. With Schlesinger taking 2nd place and $200 dollars with a total of 6.85 patties, Burt, also finished strong with a total of 6.50 Patties and winning $100 for third place. In the Bun & Cheese Division, Mike Longo exacted revenge against Joel "TheCannon" Podelsky who had a convincing victory against Longo in 2010. Munchin Mike, downed his 8th Bun & Cheese sandwich in only five minutes to secure the Bun & Cheese Eating title and the $400 first place bounty. Joel "The Cannon" Podelsky although determined could not keep pace with the methodical eating machine known as "Munchin" Mike Longo. Despite his own personal disappointment, "The Cannon" still devoured a respectable 7.5 Bun & Cheese Sandwiches in five Minutes. In third place was Jamerican (American of Jamaican ancestry) Andre "the Warrior" Wangliss who took the third spot for the second year in a row with 6 Bun & Cheese Sandwiches.

These are some special Frys
Dave "Coondog" O'Karma took Idaho by storm by capturing the Boise Fry Company World Fry Eating Championship at the Boise Freedom Festival in Meridian Idaho. Idahoans who typically reserve their cheers and emotion for their beloved Boise State Broncos, provided great excitement and support for the Food Warriors. After the charismatic Coondog snatched the title and $500 first place bounty, the fry frenzy and excitement still continued with several tough-tummy Idahoans fighting it out for the remaining money spots. Paul "Fireworks" Ferre did a fantastic job and was the clear front runner for 2nd place and $200. Unfortunately for the gutsy Ferre, the mighty Fry had the last word and Fireworks lost his fuse at the 8 minute mark after eating 1.9 lbs. With Fireworks Ferre out of the mix several other Food Warriors began a hectic chase to the bottom of their French Fry bags with Hawaiian born Austin "Tengow" TeNgaio completing his 2lb at the 10:00 Minute mark. On Tengow's heels was Chris "The Wolf" Jorgensen who was two bites from completing his 2nd LB. Respect is due to all the competitors who all completed at least 1LB Frys and showed great tenacity as well as their undying love for the Idaho Icon known as the Fry. Big thanks to the Boise Fry Company and their hardworking Manager Ryan for providing the yummy Frys and showing us that Frys deserve to be an entree.
More importantly, we thank the Boise Fry Company for being the title sponsor of the World French Fry Eating Championship.
