This event promises to be one of competitive eating's most sensational events of 2005. And it's all for charity ! 2/11/05- Huge numbers on display at Durty Nelly's Wing & Prayer Bowl. The second annual fundraiser in honor of Seamus Mcglone was held on January 29th in Milmont Park Pa. Last Years 103 Wing standard was annihilated. In first place was Tony Rosenscheil with 171 followed by Hank "The Tank" Goldey with 170 and Joe Gallo with 129. Rounding off the top five were Mike Ryan with 124 and Jim McCusker with 106
2/8/05- Gentleman Joe defends Paczki Eating Title. GJoe completed his fourth eating contest in 12 days by defending his Paczki Eating title by consuming 10 Paczzki's (A (poonch Key) ia a large polish, filled doughnut, traditionally served on Fat Tuesday in 5 minutes.) A road weary and sick Joe Menchetti dragged himself to Ansonia, Ct. to beat out Jay Alverez who downed nine Paczki's. Although short of the 11.5 standard that The "Gentleman" established last year, Joe has shown once again, at 70% he is still better than most. 2 90 super sized Chicken Wings. The Juggernaut, who finished 2nd place last year revenged last years loss to Orange Roughy Joe Toughy who took 4 th place. In second place was Gentleman Joe Menchetti who finished with 78 Wings while "The Teacher" finished third with 73 wings. The biggest surprise was veteran competitive Eater Dave "Coondog" O'Karma who had a "Reversal of Fortune" prior to the final two minute round. O'Karma led all Eaters after the first round with 56 wings eaten and very likely led all other eaters prior to the final two minute round and before his "mishap". Final Standings: Juggernaut of Eating 90, Gentleman Joe Menchetti 78, Michael Schaefer "The Teacher" 73, Orange Roughy, Joe Toughy 56, "Butt Man" 55, Eddie "The Geek" Vidmar 55, "Dr. Coronary" Dr Nowell York 52, Ray "The Bear" White 44 1/28/05-
Sports Rock Café by winning the 3rd annual Pittsburgh ESPN Wing Championship Series by gobbling down 137 chicken wings. In second place was returning Champion Ted “Capt Butthead” Wilson who finished with 134 Wings, followed by Winglesberry who ate 118 Wings. Several weeks prior to the contest, those Competitive Eating Fans who predicted a possible upset never figured on “Broken Wing” as the eater to take Capt. Butthead's crown. Although “Broken Wing” finished a respectable 4th place last year and narrowly finished out of the money in ESPN’s marathon Hot Dog Eating contest “The Dawg Bowl” most were betting on Dawg Bowl Champion Bob “Killer Kuhns” (aka, Lord of the Wings or Kuhndog Kuhns) or New England’s #1 competitive Eater “Gentleman Joe” Menchetti or World Chili Eating Champion Arnie “Chowhound Chapman” as the most likely to win this years title. Pittsburgh pride and talent were undoubtedly the two biggest factors that decided this years contest. Although, there were no totals declared before the final two minute lightning round which pitted the top five contestants against each other, it is likely that those eaters who finished from 3rd to 10th place were separated by
less than 10 wings.

The Fan in Columbus, Ohio is shaping up to be one of the 1/25/05- only a few wings. Also, the local eaters, although good sports, will be looking to keep the Wing Title in Pittsburgh and will fight to the bitter end before surrendering the prestigious WCS title to Chowhound or Gentleman Joe. Gentleman Joe's appearance in the finals will only serve to remind the Pittsburgh Eaters of their beloved Steelers loss to the New England Patriots less than a week earlier. ESPN 1250's Annual Wing Championship Series (click here for updates) Chowhound's Wing Bowl Predictions 1/18/05- Denny's Burger finally tamed! (click for article from foodmart.com) It has been reported by several news sources that a young lady from the College of New Jersey traveled to Clearfield Pa. on January 12th and accomplished what many eaters had once thought to be impossible for any American Eater: Consume the 11.5 lb Monster known as the "Denny Burger". This Hamburger is 6lbs of (post) cooked beef and five five pounds of toppings. Her name is Kate Stelnick and she hails from Princeton, NJ. Apparently she saw a Food Network special featuring the Denny Beer Barrel Pub and the burger challenge several days prior and was inspired to make the five-hour drive with her friend to Clearfield, Pa. By the way, Coondog O'Karma and Chowhound Chapman were featured in that segment of Food Networks "Protein Power". 1/11/05- True to the policy as well as the name of our organization, the Association of INDEPENDENT Competitive Eaters, as of Jan 12th the AICE rankings will include only independent eaters. AICE prefers to not be put into a position to ask an eater to risk his standing in another group by violating an existing contract. This type of contractual agreement is diametrically opposed to the basic concepts that AICE has chosen to adopt, that eaters should be free to participate in any contest they chose. As such, all eaters currently under contract to any other group will be removed from the AICE rankings.
Eaters interested in participating in this event should contact ChowHound@CompetitiveEaters.com. 1/3 and 4/05- The Food Network aired Protein Power CW1H03. Coondog O'Karma and ChowHound Chapman were in the segment featuring the monster burger eating challenge at Denny's Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield, PA where they attempted to eat the Denny Burger. 1/3/05- Congratulations to Gentleman Joe, Mark "Bonestripper" Reigelsberger and ChowHound Chapman for advancing to the finals of the Court Jester's Annual Super Bowl Chicken Wing Eating Contest.
