FOUNTAIN CLINIC TO BENEFIT FROM SECOND REUBENFEST

When the 2nd Annual Pastrami Joe's World Reuben Eating Championship is completed July 21st, bellies will be full, rivalries will be avenged, and the Fountain Clinic will be a bit better off than earlier in the day.

Mike Caron, owner of Pastrami Joe's and enthusiastic founder of the World Reuben Eating Championship, has announced this year's contest proceeds will be donated to the Fountain Clinic, the restaurant's across-the-alley neighbor. "The Reuben Contest is a fun way to give something back to the community that has supported us so much over the years," Caron said, "The Fountain Clinic is such an asset to the area, they are an easy choice to support."

Sanctioned by the Association of Independent Competitive Eaters, the governing body for eating events of such magnitude, the competition will feature three separate events: the Kids' Reuben Relay, the head-to-head amateur "eat-off" featuring some favorite local celebrities, and the main event - a face-off of the world's fastest food warriors competing for the coveted Reuben title.

"We are very pleased to be included in this year's festivities," said Sally Bulgarelli, Fountain Clinic Director. "To have your neighbors feel you're a worthy recipient of this kind of attention is very gratifying. We've been good friends with Pastrami Joe's for a long time and are delighted to benefit from this very enjoyable new national event."

The July 21 event will begin 2 p.m. on Jefferson Street between Michigan Avenue and the north ally with the restaurant as general headquarters. Further details about the competitions and how you can donate to the Fountain Clinic will be forthcoming as the calendar moves forward.
