Spot Light On Pete “Broken Wing” Maurizio

With only a few competitions under his belt, “Broken Wing Maurizio” entered the 2005 Pittsburgh, ESPN Wing Championship Series and beat a large group of top ranked Eaters by a sizable margin. “Broken Wing” states;

“I actually fell into eating by accident, I always could eat large quantities of food. I just never heard of many competitions”.

Pete has made a serious noise in the short period of time and few events that he has entered. He finished third in Pittsburgh-ESPN’s 2004 Wing Bowl and 2nd in their No-Hands Hot dog Eating Contest in June of 2004 “The Dawg Bowl” where he consumed 53 Hot Dogs. Not only is Big Pete one of the nicest guys you will ever meet but this 39 yo old Family man who works in the Medical Supply business, is one of the most unassuming Eaters you will ever meet. His eating style is similar to the style of his favorite football team, the Steelers: tough and determined. When Broken Wing won the 2005 Pittsburgh Wing Championship Series you saw very little celebration on his part. “Broken Wing” acted like a man who was familiar with being in the End Zone, fans commented. If Mr. Maurizo decides to spread his wings and compete outside of the Pittsburgh area he will undoubtedly be an Eater that will become frequently acquainted with with the end zone. In the mean time, many of America’s Top Eaters, will be hoping and praying that Big Pete doesn’t visit their neighborhood.
